Colorado / Oregon Conicals

One of the reasons we all love to hunt is to get away from everything; the phone, the office and the concerns of everyday life. The last thing that you want on your mind during one of these hunts is to wonder whether your equipment is legal in the area that you will be hunting.

For 1998 Colorado has passed some new blackpowder laws for everyone hunting during the muzzleloader season. The ones that concern us here are the bullet laws. As I understand it, sabots are no longer allowed; this means a conical bullet. They have additionally restricted the size of the bullet to not exceed two calibers in length. I don't know many retailers who will allow you to open the packaging for measurement to confirm that the .54 caliber bullet is 1.080" or shorter or the .50 caliber bullet is 1.000" or shorter before they sell them to you.

We have solved this problem for our customers by packaging "Colorado Conicals" in seven different models of .50 and .54. These bullets represent the maximum length for each bullet design while still being legal.

They are as follows:

Colorado / Oregon Conicals
.50 Ultimate 1 Semi Spitzer Solid
430 grains
.50 Ultimate 1 Semi Spitzer HP
430 grains
.50 Ultimate 1 Keith Nose HP
450 grains
.50 Ultimate 1 Keith Nose Solid
450 grains
.50 Ultimate 1 Spitzer HP
390 grains
.54 Ultimate 1 Semi Spitzer Solid
535 grains
.54 Ultimate 1 Keith Nose HP
535 grains

Each of these bullets is the legal maximum weight for the new Colorado bullet laws. You can order them with confidence directly from us for prompt mail order shipment or call for the name of the dealer nearest you.
